What is a Digital Pressure Gauge

The digital pressure gauge is a meter for What is a digital pressure gaugemeasuring and indicating the pressure of the measured medium. Its elastic components are sensitive components. Pressure gauge is a common measuring instrument and widely used in various fields. It visually displays pressure changes at various production stages and provides the necessary data reference for the process. In addition, the pressure gauge can also monitor the safety trend during production and operation, and plays an important role in preventing accidents and protecting personal and property safety. Digital pressure gauges can meet the requirements of high accuracy and low power consumption in process production. Its display uses liquid crystal display technology and the unique backlight to make the measured pressure data clear and easy to read at night. Digital pressure gauges use high-performance chips that automatically record peak pressure values and trace historical peak data. The housing is made of stainless steel and is fully resistant to corrosion and vibration. It can be used in a variety of complex environments.
  • How the digital pressure gauge work
1. Digital pressure gauge power supply

The 220V AC is converted to the DC voltage required by the pressure gauge through the switching circuit. The voltage is then supplied to the required circuit via a voltage stabilizing circuit, or a 24V DC voltage is directly supplied to the required circuit via the voltage stabilizing circuit.

2. Digital pressure gauge signal

The pressure of the measured medium is transmitted to the pressure sensitive diaphragm of the pressure gauge through the pressure port. The pressure sensor amplifies the induced electric signal, converts it to V/A, sends it to the CPU for processing, display number setting, and the switching output controlling. Then provide an analog or digital output for pressure display, control and transmission.
  • Advantages of the digital pressure gauge
1. Digital pressure gauges are simple to wire and low in cost

The digital pressure gauge requires only one contactor and does not require various protection devices. This largely solves the problem of difficult wiring. It uses a bistable control circuit so the contactor does not produce jitter. Therefore, the contactor and the controlled device are not easily damaged, and the cost is also reduced. Traditional electrical contact pressure gauges must operate with two contactors and multiple protection devices. It makes the wiring troublesome. Moreover, these devices are fragile accessories that need to be replaced frequently, thus greatly increasing the use cost.

2. Digital pressure gauge has a long service life

The digital pressure gauge is a microcomputer digital instrument. It adopts bistable control circuit, non-contact contact and mechanical friction, which can work continuously for more than ten thousand times. Conventional electric contact pressure gauges use contacts to control the upper and lower limits, which are prone to sparks and mechanical friction. Moreover, it is extremely vulnerable in frequent work and has a low life. A more serious problem is that if it gets an electric shock, it will cause damage to the bonding equipment. This will not work properly, and it will cause a great cost loss.

3. Digital pressure gauge has good vibration resistance

The digital pressure gauge can work normally in a vibrating environment for a long time, and the display is intuitive without causing visual errors. In contrast, traditional electrical contact pressure gauges cannot do this.
  • Selection of the digital pressure gauge
  1. For digital pressure gauges installed on boilers and pressure vessels, its maximum range (scale limit on the dial) should be compatible with the working pressure of the equipment. Range of the digital pressure gauge should generally be 1.5 to 3 times (preferably 2 times) the working pressure of the equipment. The digital pressure gauge range should not be too large. Since for digital pressure gauges with the same accuracy, the larger the range, the greater the deviation between the absolute value of the allowable error and the visual observation. It will affect the accuracy of the pressure readings. On the contrary, Digital pressure gaugethe digital pressure gauge range should not be too small. If the range is too small, the working pressure of the device will be equal to or close to the scale limit of the digital pressure gauge. It will cause the elastic components in the digital pressure gauge to be in the maximum deformation state for a long time, and it is prone to permanent deformation. Eventually, the error of the digital pressure gauge increases and the service life decreases. In addition, if the range of the digital pressure gauge is too small, in case of overpressure operation, the pointer will cross the maximum range and approach the zero position. It will create an illusion for the operator and cause a bigger accident. Therefore, the pressure range of the digital pressure gauge should not exceed 60 to 70% of the scale limit.
  2. The accuracy of the digital pressure gauge is expressed as a percentage of the allowable error to the limit of the dial scale. The accuracy level is generally marked on the dial. When selecting a digital pressure gauge, the accuracy should be determined according to the pressure level of the equipment and the actual work needs.
  3. In order to make the operator accurately see the pressure value, the dial diameter of the digital pressure gauge should not be too small. If the digital pressure gauge is installed at a higher position or is farther from the control room, the dial diameter should be increased.
  4. If the medium measured by the digital pressure gauge is corrosive, it is necessary to select different elastic component materials according to the specific temperature and concentration of the corrosive medium. Otherwise, the intended measurement purpose will not be achieved.
  • The difference between pressure sensor and pressure gauge
  1. There is a difference in the way of output. For pressure gauges, it only displays pressure values (eg kPa, MPa) and cannot transmit signals. Its display value is represented by the indicated number. For pressure sensors, the output is expressed as current, voltage or RS485 output. The output data is displayed on the corresponding indicator.
  2. For the calibration work, the pressure gauge only needs to calibrate a pair of input and output relationship. The pressure sensor needs to extra calibrate the relationship between its input and the communication data.
  3. In terms of the accuracy of the calibration instrument, the accuracy of the instrument that calibrate the pressure gauge is much lower than that of the pressure sensor.
  4. In terms of measurement qualification, pressure gauges must have this element. Pressure sensors generally do not require corresponding measurement qualifications.
